Of Many
Jaclyn Quaresma Solo Exhibition
Friday March 12th 2010
7 pm – 10 pm

Jaclyn Quaresma
lays the gallery floor of 47 with 1900 12” x 12”, white, hand-cast tiles in her
newest exhibit, Of Many.

Viewers serve to
activate the work, as the brittle, uneven tiles crack beneath the weight of
each step. Beginning in a pristine environment, the piece will degenerate
throughout the course of one month. Continually in a state of flux, each step
will be responsible for the erasure of the previous.

Quaresma explores
the themes of temporal and spatial transition, as the controlled environment
becomes an emotively charged metaphor for the social lives of spaces. This
installation approaches the material foundation of interior landscape from both
an aesthetic and conceptual standpoint. At once subject to the degradation of
time and use, the reactive floor is given an experiential life.

Of Many runs from March 12th to April 2nd, 2010 at 47. The opening reception is Friday, March 12 from 7pm-10pm. Jaclyn Quaresma will be in attendance.
